If your Tama and your friend's Tama mate, will the Babies turn out to be the adult versions of their parents (like genetics)? Or does it solely depend on how you care for them?

Yesterday, at school, my Young Mimitchi beeped for attention, but she didn't need anything... (Full hearts on both, not sick, not asleep) so I gave it a timeout. It cried (which I found out was normal, 'cause it's a time out) and dropped two happiness levels! (but also went up 1 training level)...
