is my old Tamagotchi broken?

I have a Tamagotchi connect I got as a kid I've found recently. Before I took out the batteries i tested the buttons and it made this beeping noise. I'm wondering if its the batteries dying or it's broken. I did order new batteries just in case.

Did you put the batteries again before testing the buttons? If yes, then this is normal because they do make this sound when you put the batteries.

i pressed the buttons after the noise and nothing happened i have had the batteries in there for a while. ill put them back in tomorrow and try again. also when i did try it out the screen was not on at all. Only the one beep.

I suggest you try the new batteries and see what happens.
