I’m new here, very excited to meet other tamagotchi fans :)

I’m looking into buying a meets, I live in the US and I saw them two places online. I saw a pastel on amazon and then I saw this online store called Japan you want. Are both of these legitimate sellers? If not, do you know any reputable eBay sellers? Specifically I’m looking for a pastel or a fantasy.

Welcome to TamaTalk!  :)

Amazon is a trusted website so I assume it’s safe, I’m sure about Japan You Want and their prices, they’re known in the community and you can trust them.  ;)

I’m not really sure about eBay, but for me I got all my Meets (Sanrio, Magical) from a trusted japanese collector on instagram, both with station downloads, and of course the prices were a bit high (+100 US dollars) if you are willing to check her instagram and maybe negotiate the price with her this is her account name @tamagirl327

Hopfully that will help you decide.  ^_^

Welcome to TamaTalk! :D

It's worth pointing out that an English-language version of the Tamagotchi Meets exists for the US market, and it's called the "Tamagotchi On". Or is there a specific reason that you're seeking out the Japanese version instead?

Ahh, I see! You may as well take advantage of the fact that you can connect the versions from both countries, eh? :D (Also, good taste, there - I have a pink Fairy Meets, myself. )

I haven't got any knowledge of the seller on Instagram, but I second what @iTamannadi said about Amazon* and Japan You Want. You should be fine with either of those.

*Amazon will usually protect you with regard to purchases from third-party sellers who offer goods via their site - just be sure to check a seller's feedback first.

Do you have any knowledge about the other tamagotchis that Japan You Want sells? They have the angelgotchi and it's only like $20 but I figured it would be expensive? I'm confused about this all but hardcore regretting giving away the 5 I had as a kid :(

Angelgotchis are the Japanese equivalent of the Tamagotchi Angel released in 1997/1998.  They were far more common than the English release, hence why they're much cheaper than the english Angels.

Tamagotchis are divided into vintage models, connection era models (most people are familiar with these) and the modern era models (tamagotchi friends, color releases).

You can find a list of releases on wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tamagotchi_releases

Project Tamashell also has some nice pictures of the different shells. https://www.tamashell.com/
