Tamagotchi Friends USA and UK connection?

Can I bump connect a USA version of the Tamagotchi Friends with a UK version?

Or can I only bump between same regions?

Any help would be much appreciated, I'm looking to unlock the extra game that comes with BFF points and I would like to buy the UK version to try our their regions unique games.
