V5 not bonding?

I can't get my v5 family to bond. I'm using all kinds of different items - Basketball, pinball machine, campfire, book and Unchi-kun but nothing happens =/ Are they too young to bond? My family consists of Tororotchi, Ahirukutchi and Sakuramotchi.

Playing with toys will not increase the bonding - it increases the Happy meter.

Watch out for the specific "bonding times"; I used a V5.5 so I have different times, but during a bonding time you will see an exclamation (!) above your characters. Select the attention icon and it will ask you to pick from three items to which they will use to bond. It usually happens every top-of-the-hour (9:00, 10:00, etc).

Hm, is it when they want to play with the music instruments from that icon that looks like a smiley face with a talkbubble? I've done those but I didn't gain any bonding points =/

Yeah that's it. you get bonding very slowly after playing with them (when they ask to) several times.
