Odd and Even Generations?

I see two different lists of tamagotchis listed into two different categories, as Odd generations and Even generations.

What does this mean?

Does this mean that some tama toys have odd generation tamas and some others have even generation tamas programmed into them? Can someone explain please? Thank you very much.

Depending on wich Generation your tama is on.. example when you first start your Tama when you first get it.. that is your 1st generation "ODD" so you are only able to get anyone of the odd generation Tamas on the list after you have produced an egg by either the matchmaker or by falling in "love" that new egg will become your second generation, then you will be able to get anyone of the characters in the "Even" generation list, and so on and so on..

if you can't take care of your tama past the 1st generation or keep reseting it. you will only be able to get characters from the ODD list.

which reminds me anyone know what generation Oyajitchi come up in (old guy who likes coffee)?
