Thats pretty strange for the tamagotchi not to allow you to input passwords, but the "undebugging" question has already been answered. Please check back in the posts before and surly you will find your answer. I don't really think you will be able to ever put in ANY passwords anymore because...

thats very strange, have you tried to debug it or change the battery? things like that happen when you do stuff like that. Also, have you droped it at all? Maybe it's just your tamagotchi. Tamaninja B)
