Connection issues

Forgive me if this question has already been asked, but can a v6 (music star) connect to anything OTHER THAN the v5 (familitchi)? Because It's starting to drive me bonkers, when my little brother comes up with his ancient v2 and says "Let's connect! I wanna connect!" and I have to tell him no.

Some people have said that V6 can connect to V5, however others have said that it constantly fails.

I'm not sure, 'cuz I've never tried it, but I'm pretty sure V6 can only connect successfully to other V6's. [:

Sometimes it says "Please connect to the V5." but sometimes it works

The V6 can only connect to other v6 and v5s and v5.5s

Yeah, I can get mine to connect with my v5, but when it said others in the menu, I figured it ment v4.5 and down, too. Well, poo. That stinks. Thank you for answering my stupid question.
