Well it depends, if it's those dumbo aliens who go "I come in peace, we bring love and blaa blaa BLAA" Then I hate them, but if they're death and distruction, I love 'em! But I think alien books are mostly the same sorta story line.
I believe you have never laid hands on a science fiction book. If I were to say books about teenage girls (i.e Gossip girls etc.) manga, or any other type of books you like and I do not, you would defend it. I am now defending my "dumb alein books." Plus it's alien not alein.
