Nothing, some people just like some designs more than others. It doesn't have any effect on your actual tama though.

Designs are made by Bandai purely to suite peoples personal tastes. The designs dont have any affect internally of the Tamagotchi, or how it runs.

Just as haze already said, Bandi makes the designs for personal tastes only. No one should be mean to you because you tama is yellow and theirs is black. It doesn't matter what color a persons tama is, its whats inside that counts.(Not inside your tama!)
