help with downloading

i know that there are many topics about this but can you make a step-by-step tutorial? i know that tamatamatchi made one about this but i till need help... im sorry for the trouble...thanks! (i know there was just another topic made by Zzgs but please help thanks!)

It always shows a sign that says "infrared(not responding)" but I don't know why but I'm assuming that it's because of the tama be cause when I start connecting,it doesn't work so do you know what's wrong? P.S thanks for answering
