Help With Photoshop.

Recently, (Like 5 minutes ago) I was attempting to make an avatar for a certain member. I was doing fine until I tried to add in an ocean background. Blue turned out grey! Do you have any idea why my colours arent working? I made it in Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Which always works fine!

Did you change the color mode of the picture you want to insert the background into?

It says 'Color Mode' then 'BMP [something like that] color mode' and 'gray scale'. I think it's under edit or something.
