How to connect?

I have two v3 tamas, but I can't figure out how to connect them - I get to the part of the screen that says "stand by" with the hearts and radio waves, but nothing ever happens after that. How do I get them to see each other?

(Yes, I'm pointing the little red IR bits at each other.)

Do they need to be close together, far apart? Do I have to do a little dance? Do they both have to try to connect at the same time (I tried this, and it still didn't work)?

OK, when you are at the STAND BY place, press the middle button on one of your tama. BTW They have to be close to connect!

When it says Stand By one of you click the Middle Button (do it randomly like your friend does it one day, you do it the other, etc.) Then it'll connect.
