Well, you're right; it's not a Tama-Go but it's not a fake Tamagotchi either. If this Tamagotchi was pictured alongside other Tamagotchis, you'd notice that it is smaller than the regular Connections and even smaller than the vintage Tamagotchis (so about the size of a Chibi/Mini). It's called a Tamago-chu and was released by Bandai. "Tamago" obviously refers to "egg" and "chu" means "kiss." They come in pairs, connect, and target older audiences. There is nearly no care involved but the object is to connect them many times so that they can exchange gifts, fall in love, and have offspring. The pairs usually sell on Ebay for about $30 or a little more. Pictures of the designs can be found in this topic HERE. They are quite cute! I've always wanted a pair but haven't gotten around to purchasing them yet.
