Lost connection right before mating with another

A while back I had a strange experince that happened with two of my other tamagotchis. Anyway I was close to mating time when I decided to try and connect my two. My one got a failed connection while my other went into the mating scene. I watched as the other baby floated up to nowhere. It was the weirdest thing to happen yet with my tamagotchis.

It was just gone. I ended up using the matchmaker to get my other one to have the next generation. Its was really odd but I haven't had that happen since then.
