Im just curious! if you really like manga then you should know! ive been pronouncing it wrong ALL THIS TIME!!! its mon gah ----

The japanese people, who actually invented the word, say "Ma" "n" "ga" with a "maahnga" soound rather than a "Mang-ga" sound. But outside of Japan, everyone says it differently, so it doesn't really matter. But in Australia, everyone says "Mang-ga".

wow i did not even notice! i've been saying "main-gah" this whole time. but i can see how technically it would be "mon-gah"

I'm studying Japanese in school, and the correction pronunciation of the word is, as Krystal said, "mon-ga" or "mahn-ga."

The Japanese symbol ま "ma" is pronounced as a short "a" sound in English.

If "manga" were to be pronounced "main-ga", it would be spelled with め "me", in which the "e" is phonetic for the long "a" sound in English. And the roomaji would be spelled, "menga".

So in short, it's pronounced "mon-ga". =]

Faar. I don't pronounce it either way.

For some reason this whole time I've been pronouncing it Mag-na.

I think out of everyone, I am the furthest off the actual pronunciation.

Once or twice I called it 'Magma'. It's not hot, molten rock!
