Ok I just got my v4 a few days ago and so I'm on my first generation, and earlier today my ringotchi turned into a mimitchi > 
(whis has always been a second gen. character) I have had about 10 mimitchis before so I definetly know what they look like and I also know it's not a mametchi (I've had alot of those too).
so yeah I'm confused.
