A MYSTERIOUS ISLAND.

AN ABANDONED ORPHANAGE.

A STRANGE COLLECTION OF VERY PECULIAR PHOTOGRAPHS.

On a small island off the coast of Wales, there is a large orphanage, known by the name of Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. There, chirldren with very peculiar powers, abilities, and visions have been taken in with understanding by a very strange woman-- who is in fact a ymbryne, one who can transform into a bird --by the name of Miss Peregrine. The date is September 4, 1940, and we have just unfurled into a very.. peculiar situation!

INFO •

This RP is based off the book 'Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children', by Ransom Riggs. You do not have to have read the book to join! All you must really know is each character in the story has some sort of crazy power/ability they can use. For example, one girl can create fire from nowhere, a boy can make himself invisible, etc. The possibilities are really endless for your power! Also, the day of September 4, 1940, repeats over and over as a Nazi bomb hits the house, in order to keep the children living. I will announce the repeat of each day.

Name:
Caecilius Peter Sommers
Gender:
Male
Age:
18
Power/Ability:
Cecil has the ability to transform into certain animals, these animals being anything he has seen physically. Because of the lack of actually getting out as a child, his transformations are limited to common house cats, dogs, birds and mice.
Looks:
Cecil appears to be most definitely in his late teens, possibly even older. Tall and thin, a build well-suited for his astonishing height. His hair is straight, but it tends to curl at the ends and it sort of jumps all over the place. The back of his head and his sides are neatly trimmed, and while the top of his head is slightly messy, it’s mostly his curls that’s very distracting, but yet cute. His hair is a very light chocolate that interestingly seems to reflect light instead of absorbing any sort, that it to say, it’s a pure chocolate with tons of sheen. His features are quite defined and softens at the edges, giving off that handsome but gentlemen feel. His eyes are a bright emerald, the very first thing you witness once speaking to him face-to-face. In front of those gems are a pair of thick black glasses, almost those worn back in the 60's. As for his skin, just a soft caucasian decorated with freckles that are seen almost everywhere on his body, other than a few on his cheeks. Nevertheless, Cecil looks so disarmingly friendly that his untidiness is generally forgiven. He is neither frail nor weak, but the easy slope of his shoulders indicates a man made for hugging, not punching or defending. His face is broad, but with prominent cheekbones that are much more suited to smiling than frowning. As far as attire is concerned, Cecil is comfortable in just about anything.
Personality:
Friendly, cheeky, and outgoing, Cecil has never once had an enemy. He has always found competitive spirit to be an ugly thing—or, at least, something that breeds ugliness quickly. He would much rather sit back and have a pleasant time reaching his goal than race to the top. To him, only the destination of one's journey matters, so long as the path itself doesn't harm anybody. Although he will never admit it, this outlook is partially an excuse for laziness, but he would rather be lazy than arrogant and obnoxious. One of his few passions is the literature of William Shakespeare; he enjoys reading, reciting, and learning about all sorts of british literature. He is prone to making decisions in the spur of the moment. He isn’t particularly unintelligent, but he has no patience for things unless he can honestly say he enjoys them, and is therefore willing to do whatever it takes to get anything he considers unsavory done with immediately. He has a hard time working with others for this reason. However, as has been stated, Cecil can be an idiot. Even he knows when it’s a good idea to sit down and think about things. He refuses to allow people to insult anyone he is close to. He puts great effort into protecting people near him, even when they themselves are probably going to be better off if he leaves them alone. Of course, this means he gets easily sidetracked unless given proper guidance.
History:
Cecil's father, Nathaniel Sommers was a physics professor at a private college in Cardiff, Wales. For a man who could never be wrong, it was a fitting occupation. He was very talented in his field, and his students vigorously absorbed every concept he fed them without complaint. How could the extinguished professor Sommers possibly be wrong about anything? Yet those sort of statements only served to inflate the man's already infinitely large ego. His mother, Lucia Sommers on the other hand, was a nurse at a local hospital. She was a hardworking woman, the type who would always volunteer to continue working well after the end of her shift for the sake of her patients. Anyone who knew Lucia would say that she was a very generous and well-liked person. Oh, and let's not forget the fact that she was also a lying, cheating woman. The last member of the family was Cecil's beloved older brother, Flori. In no way was he perfect, but compared to his mother and father, he was a saint. Sure, he did drugs, got into fights, and was caught for the occasional petty theft, but there was one thing he did that his parents never did and that was actually take care of Cecil.
For a while, things were relatively peaceful in the Sommers household. As peaceful as it could be with a raging psychopath as the head of the family, at least. Day in and day out, things ran smoothly, and Cecil's family behaved somewhat like a normal family. However, tensions were always high, and on occasion, someone would do or say something that would upset his father, then he would go ballistic. During such episodes, there would be a lot of yelling and screaming. Objects were thrown, tables were flipped, and doors slammed shut hard enough to shake the house, but no one was ever hurt. There was no grabbing, no hitting, and anything thrown was never aimed directly at someone. Then each time, without fail, everything would go back to normal the next day. Everyone would pitch in to fix up the house, and their normal routines continued on as if nothing had happened. The incident would never be spoken of again, and that was that. That's how Cecil's life went about for most of his childhood. All he had to do was keep quiet as much as he could, stay out of his father's path, and be diligent with his school work and chores to appease him. Those were the happy days when life as manageable.
When Cecil entered the seventh grade, life decided to blindside him. His mother, Lucia, who had always been the one to comfort him at night and hold his hand when he was scared, was exposed as a lying, cheating woman. For her nursing job, it was normal for her to stay late at work. That was just the type of person his mother was, always going the extra mile for her patients. However, as it turned out, some of those "late nights" weren't spent at the hospital at all. She had a coworker who was a surgeon at the same hospital, and the two of them had spent quite a few nights together at his flat. When the infidelity had been exposed, Cecil's father was more infuriated than he had ever been. However, this wasn't another minor incident. It was a giant bombshell, and Lucia became the main target. Cecil didn't witness anything that happened that night because his father immediately grabbed her and dragged her to his room, but that didn't mean Cecil couldn't hear anything. Even behind locked doors, he could hear his father's voice shaking the house. He was an extremely self-centered and prideful man, so finding out that his wife was cheating on him was a huge blow to his ego. That night, he absolutely lost it. It only took a mere few bullets loaded in a shotgun, and his rage manipulated into something completely different. Cecil's mother and brother were shot with one blow to the head each, as well as one to his own father's head, as the investigators said. The house was trashed, but one thing was missing, and that so happened to be Cecil. From that night on, something odd had happened and he managed to escape. His ability rose from the dusty ashes and gave him that ticket to leave behind his troubles and find something better that rested in the future. In which he did, a woman, named Miss Peregrine had taken him into her arms, an angel he likes to say, as well as many other children that were like him. This was his chance to finally have that "family" and a chance to actually fit in.

Firstly, can I just say that this is one of my favourite books of all time? :) Secondly, I would like to apologize for a fail form, I'm a little rusty... : /

Name: Theodore Reneé Jacobsen

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Power/Ability: Theo has the natural ability of "taking an eye for an eye", or healing, as it were. To work this, he has to be in contact with the being he is healing, and must absorb, feel, and experience their pain as if it were his own. Due to both the physical and emotional trauma that would accompany this, he was also born with a higher threshold for pain, and a stronger mind than the average homo-sapien/crypto-sapien, however this does not mean he is invincible, nor does this mean he can resurrect someone who has already passed. Rather, a pain that might render the average being unconcious would be like getting a massive scratch across one's body for him, and he would still be very much in pain, if only for a limited time.

Looks: Theodore is small for his age. He is rather skinny as well, (to the point of being able to count every rib across his torso) resulting in him looking much more like a sallow, if not a little gaunt, 15 year old. Nonetheless, the boy's face might be considered handsome. Theo's features are somewhat light, suiting his skin; pale-ish, as if he needs a healthy dose of vitamin D, and a catch-up on the weeks of sleep he must of missed which have resulted in the dark circles that encompass the boy's expressive, dark copper eyes. Despite this description, rather than standing hunched over as one might expect, he has impeccably straight posture, almost as if he tries to make a good impression despite the rest of him. As if to emphasize this fact, he can be constantly seen dressed in clean, pressed, somewhat threadbare, clothing, with his long-ish and thin-ish, dirty blonde hair neatly combed.

Personality: Extremely caring and forgiving (to a fault) would be the best description. Theodore is also quite the wallflower. It's not that he's shy, as much as it is he just doesn't have anything to say, but given a conversational topic, he could also be considered a sociable person, if not one that get's bored of talking quite easily. Theo is also very fond of music, and can often be seen humming, or pretending to play piano on a table or desk, that is, if he thinks he's alone. Overall, I suppose you could say he's a very nice, somewhat melancholy, but a very interesting person given the chance, he often has too much on his mind at once, and it would be nice to get some of it off his shoulders. Against all odds though, he can hold himself together very well in tough situations.

History: Theodore never knew his mother, and was raised by his father, a successful, somewhat emotionally-broken man. The boy grew up in a good home, though, he never went hungry though he always had a skinny figure, and was often teased for it by other boys at school, still, Theodore persisted forward. His father joined the army shortly after Theo turned fifteen, and was killed in service. By this time of course, Theodore had already discovered his ability, and spent much of his time practicing on sparrows with broken wings, or mice who were nearly dead. These experiments often turned out results that were worse than if he had just left them alone, and took their own toll on his outward appearance. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Peregrine took him under her wing. He eventually grew into his ability, though he still bears his scrawny figure.

Do we just start or do we really have to wait till the forms are accepted, the ones above me haven't even been accepted yet. I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but I really do love this book. o:

Name: Silus Esbern Markarth

Gender: Male

Age: Sixteen

Power/Ability: He has the ability to create and control fire out of no where.

Looks: Messy tresses of silver-white tumble in careless, choppy locks that might've been cut by Silus himself. Y'see, he doesn't really like hairdressers or barbers, so he's cultivated an appreciative art to cutting his own hair, and helping his siblings' with their own haircuts; he really doesn't mind doing it. Now, his bangs are a little less intricate, falling in choppy lines to obscure his turquoise-coloured eyes beneath. He is thin and fragile, mostly underweight and beneath his typical height. But that doesn't stop his raging temper.

Personality: To the outside world, Silus is a snobby, guileless person. He's outgoing, and never fails to make an acquaintance. He completely doesn't care what the world thinks of him and isn't afraid to speak his mind; unless there's someone ruefully frightening lurking about. His temper is quick to flare, but quick to extinguish. He'll also be the first to apologize if he realizes he's wrong. And he understands that the majority of the time, he's always wrong. If he doesn't have an apology cocked and ready, however, he'll stick to his argument like a stubborn child and resort to petty pouting. Silus appears to see a lot of the world in black and white. He has a strong sense of right and wrong that he adheres to, though not always strictly. He's often getting herself in more trouble than he should. He sneaks about, pokes about things and places he has no business with, gets caught out of bounds at all hours and is rather high-handed with authority figures from time to time. He's completely reckless when he drives and doesn't always think his decisions through.

History: Silus never knew his parents, the day he was born he was immediately given off to an orphanage. Not one like Miss Peregrine's, but worse. The kids weren't fed, and all they were meant to do was clean. They fought for food, faught for warmth, and the staff of the orphanage just watched in entertainment. Silus was tired of this and burnt the whole place down and managed to flee before anyone found out. Once fleeing, he ran into a very caring young woman, named Miss Peregrine. He has been in her arms since, but still has difficulty trusting others or her, due to the abuse he had received growing up in the other orphanage.
