When it said STANDY BY, did you at least press the B button.

How to connect:

Go to the OTHERS option

Make sure the infra red thing is facing each other.

Then you should see your tamagotchi play with each other.

ohi know how to connect. i've had my tamas for like 3 years... (well not my v3 and 4) but i know already howw to i just kept pressing and pressing and nothing happened.

If they are still not connecting, there might be a problem with your tamas

In my Point of View it's seems like the Infra Red is damaged or old on your tamagotchi....
