My tmgc freezes on a white screen

Hi

Just now I went on my tmgc=c and it froze halway between the clock and the room the top half was the clock the bottom was the room and then it froze with a white screen and started to beep then shut down. I just put new batteries in as I haven't played it for a long time and befroe I put the new batteries in every time I pressed a button the screen flashed PLEASE HELP!

Press the reset button on the back, then select Load (the top option) from the Load / Reset menu that'll appear on the screen.

ok thank you it worked again once I replaced the batteries twice, as the first made it happen again. why do you think it happned, though? Dud batteries?

also, is this a coomon problem or is my tamagotchi just weird?
