PC trouble

i need a pc brain and no funny biz

my pc (window xp home edition) keeps popping a ballon tip saying

an important file is corrupted the name of the file starts with ~

but i can't remember the rest of it please someone help!!!

have you tried restoring the system back to the last time it was updated using "System Restore"?
