Yes different versions can indeed mate with one another.

You can mate by connecting and doing the many topics it inlists for you.

Like,

VISIT - You or your friends tama will come and visit your house, or vice versa.

GAME - You and another tama will play a game together.

PRESENT - You and another tama will exchange presents.
