I just have a question,

Say ur on generation 3 and ur tamagotchi dies of old age...would it go back to the first generation or does the generation keep going?

Goes back to Gen. 1 I believe. I mean if it has no babies the generation can no longer go on. :3 I could be wrong, doubt it though.

You are right: If you die, you restart your generation.
