On version 1 you lose all of your items, but on version 2, 3 and 4 you won't.

well, if the adult DIES you do. but if it just goes away, then it stays. did your tam die or leave?

If you still have the baby then yes it will have all the adults stuff but it will not necessarily be able to use some of the items.
