If I were to breed a chantotchi with a mametchi, would I get a pure family. I don't know if I have to breed a male with a female or it works either way around.

No,you would have to mate your Mametchi to a Chantotchi with 100% bonding in order to get a pure family.

Yes, as heart of stone87 said, You would Have to Mate a Mametchi and a Chantotchi with 100% to get a Pure Family.
If you did it the Other way round it would go to a Smart Family then when it turns into a Teen it would be a Blended Family.
