Save Tamagotchi Battery Without the Tab

I only want to play with one or two of my tamas at once, but pausing them wastes precious batteries, and i threw out all of the battery tabs, so what should i do...?

When you pause it switch to the time screen and also turn off the sound. That'll help alot. Also when it's asleep put it on the clock screen.

If you really don't want to take the batteries out (Which I think is the best option, because I think if you leave them in for a very long time, they leak and hurt your tama) I took an old playing card and cut a strip of it off and then stick it in where the tab should be. It can be tricky to get it cut the right size.
