You should not reset it you will lose everything you have and you should only reset in a emergicy

Don't reset it, that's stupid. That's like saying you're going to kill somebody on the streets just because you think they're ugly or not good looking. Resetting it just because you don't like the character is mean. Even if it isnt real. It's still mean. You should love your tamagotchi for who it is, not what it looks like.

3. you lose all the progress you've made so far.

4. unless you change the way you care for them, the new one will turn out this way too anyway

DEFINITELY NOT!

by reseting your tamagotchi you lose all its items and friends.

if you just keep going through generations you can get the characters you like and more gps
