Maybe you turned the sound off by accident. You can try turning it back on by pressing both the A and C buttons. (press the A button then QUICKKLY press the C button).

If the sound doesn't come on when you expect it to, then perhaps your Tamagotchi toy is defective. In that case, you should contact Bandai or their distributor in your country, and request a replacement.
