Strange buzzing/beeping from P1

I noticed a faint, low-toned beeping coming from my P1. I know it needs new batteries. Is the beeping related to that?

Most Bandai Tamagotchi models have a faint beeping all the time. Some are louder than others. I have one that's quite loud: if I place it on my night table, and lay quietly in bed, I can hear it. Sometimes it keeps me awake so I put it in my night table drawer. Others are so quiet that even when pressed up to your ear you can hardly hear them.

Perhaps this is the beeping you're hearing... or maybe not.
