On the bottom of Bandai's product page for the Yasashii, it mentions it requires two "size 3" batteries. "Size 3" is the Japanese name for the USA "AA" battery.

Do you have a Yasashii? Or are you just interested in them / interested in getting one? There's one on auctions.yahoo.co.jp today, but the high bid is currently over 6000 yen (about $50 US). Here's the link: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/96234868

I just got blue yasashii for $168 off of ebay.

It does need two AA batteries.

It do not come with batteries.

I have to unscrew the back with small screwdriver and put batteries in.
