Tamagotchi IDL

I was researching on my computer and I found that I have something called Microsoft eHome infrared transceiver. Would this work with the tamagotchi ID or IDL?

I think it won't work. "Microsoft eHome" refers to Windows Media Center. That IR is compatible with remote controls for televisions, cable set top boxes, etc. I believe the IR used for download transfer to a Tamagotchi-iD (& -iD L) is based on IrDA, which is a standard for data transfer between computer equipment (computers, printers, cell-phones.)

Ok, thanks binary. Now I can look for an USB IR dongle. I'm thinking of getting an ID L sometime soon and I want to make sure I can get the downloads.
