Not quite sure which practice time you're referring to because there are a couple but if you're referring to the time when you practice with your band shortly after your band forms (before the pro debut), you would see music notes appear quickly over your band member's heads and you would press buttons depending on where the note shows up. If you see a note appear over the head of the band member located on the left, you'd press the left (A) button, etc. As for the other game involving the floating "dots," I think it's explained quite well HERE. Hope this wasn't too confusing.
