Tamagotchi P- Buying "used" pierces?

Hi all,

I am wondering whether it is safe to buy used pierces. I feel like I have heard something about the pierces being "linked" to the Tamagotchi P and that it needs to be "unlinked" before it can be used on another one...is that true? In that case, could it happen that if I buy a used pierce, it's still linked to the original owner's tamagotchi and I can't use it?

Sounds silly I guess, but I'm trying to figure out how to save money on pierces, they are kind of expensive :/

As long as the chip in the pierce is working it will work. Besides, the owner cant unlink the pierce in anyway by just unplugging the pierce , if the device dont detect the pierce in a certain amount of time 48 hours I think then it will unlink it self and thats the only way to unlink
