Tamagotchi P's Patch

Hello, I'm new here, but have been into tamas since 2000!

I recently purchased a 4U+ anniversary edition and I bought a Tamagotchi P's today after days of debating weather I should haha!

So my question is this: In order to patch the P's with the english version, would I be able to use an infrared cable (like the cheap ones on eBay) or does it have to be a phone? I don't want to spend a ton of money on a specific phone if I don't have to!

I'm not that bothered about it being in Japanese, but if I can get it patched myself cheaply, then I don't see the harm

You can use both. And there are phones on eBay that have the patch and pierce items and more! The phones go for 30-40$.

or go to a near clellphone store and ask them for it(if they sell used)
