They are only babies for a short time, but they are adults for a longer time.. (no longer than 3-4 days)

The baby can be 1-2 hours.
The child 1 day. (0 yr)
The teen is 3 days. (1-3 yrs)
The Adult is up to 99! (2-99 yrs)

No - It doesnt die after 99 years. It continues living until it dies from lack of food, attention, care etc.
It stays on 99 years and doesnt pass the 99 years, although It would have been living for longer than 99 years, the Tamagotchi isnt programmed to show that.
