What is a unit? I see like "12 million units sold" or something, but how many tamagotchi's are in a unit?

A unit is a single thing or might be a group of things that make up a single unit.

So if one is talking about Tamagotchi, a unit would be a single tamagotchi.

Or like McDonnalds Hamburgers, Millions sold. A unit would be a burger.

Or cars, a car could be a unit. Anything like that.

Yes, unit is like "uno", which means one. Twelve units are a dozen, so yes, as Mothra says, it is "one" whatever.
