When can a tama mate?

I was wondering, what age does a tama "have to be" in order to mate with another tama? I know when its a baby it obvisiously can't but still, does anyone know?

You tama needs to be an adult. Once it has become an adult you will either get the matchmaker after a few days or your tama will mate with its partner if connected a number of times over a few days..
