why cant i go into parents

im on my 5th generation but it wont let me go into parents. is there something wrong with my tamagotchi??

i know... >.< im not that far yet into my 2nd generation. im only on my 1st. but my friend has one and she is v2 sometimes she cant check her parents or history. and yet sometimes it works. i dont get it either. and i for one want to find out.
