Why with some items, your tama only have a "?"

With some items, when you use them, your tama only is next to it with a "?" mark. That is because you need to buy another item that compliments it. For example, with the make-up kit you need to have a mirror in your items and select the make-up kit, and with the CD, you need to have a boom box in your items and select CD (Be careful because it sometimes explode!)

Thanks I was begining to wonder why those question marks always popped up. Now if only I could find a mirror so I could let my tama use the make up...and what item would go with the pencil? Paper would be my guess but I haven't seen any paper around, even as a prize.
