So a funny thing happened to me about a week ago. I suddenly remembered my first ever virtual pet, a P1 Tamagotchi, and how much I loved the needy little bugger who would die on me if I dared spend more than a few hours away from him. This drew me to look up the product, and lo and behold I find out there's still quite a few of them out these days! I decided to get a Tama-Go, since they're fairly inexpensive. Man have I been surprised at how much has changed with the Tamagotchi, and yet it still has the same feel. First ever new generation Tamagotchi is a Lovlitchi (finding out they're gendered now was quite a shock to me too). Now I'm interested in looking at other versions, just to see all I missed out on.
As for the non-Tamagotchi related things. I'm quite the gaming nerd, with practically every system under the sun. Maybe that's what drew me to the Tamagotchi in the first place.
