The Bard's Tama Log

Recommended Posts

That's rad that you got Oyajitchi! I wish the newer shells used the P2 characters instead of the P1 ones, but it's all cool. Yeah, in older Tamagotchis, they get a lot more needy. It also depends on whether or not you take good care of your Tamagotchi - the worst characters require heaps of attention, though I guess it counts with age too.

dang, those Angel Twins are very uncanny-valley like! I guess it's like one of them zooming in, but... eugh. They're pretty cute, though! Memetchi is awesome, good job getting them! :D What gender do you think you'll get next on your V3? I wish the older Tamagotchis had marriage options, but it was the first of it's kind, so Bandai had plenty of time to evolve the formula - don't ever expect too much on the first time, hehehe.

Tamacass-- That makes sense! It would be cool if the newer 20th ann. minis had different characters, though I guess they're going for simplicity. My foundational tama experience is with Connections, so I'm much more used to the week-long ish cycle of raising into adult, waiting for matchmaker, raising the next one. But it definitely makes sense that the older/less well-cared for they are, the more attention they need!

The twin angels are So. Weird. :o Uncanny valley is the perfect phrase for them, for sure.

Well, I was going to hope for a boy next time, but just as I started typing the new update--

The matchmaker arrived! Fruit gets to marry a cute worm.

And she had a daughter! We're on a streak of girl Tamas for now, it seems!

I'm definitely enjoying Memetchi's smiling face this time around. ^_^ Reminds me of the Tamagotchi Corner Shop DS games. I wonder if I still have those tucked away somewhere...

The other two Tamas are about the same! Maybe a little needier as they grow older. Let's see... the Angel is 10, so the Mini must be a bit older. I think with the next run on the Angel, I'll try for a bad-care character, and give myself a break from playing the star game so much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's not much, but that's all for now!

This weekend has been a lot more than usual! Both with respect to tamas and to other life stuff. We might have found an apartment, and a bunch of other stuff is in the works, etc... and hey, Mob Psycho 100 is getting a second season, and Wizards of the Coast is teasing something new for D&D besides just MToF... but yes. Tamagotchi. Here we go!

Friday was Fruit's last day with her daughter, so she left Saturday! Not the best timing, as busyness resulted in some care mishaps for the new kid, Apple, but she's hanging in there!

k1ctbk.jpg

Evolved into a Mizutamatchi, which-- if I'm not mistaken-- was the last toddler we haven't gotten yet! Hooray for 4th gen!

And then today, she evolved into a Hinotamatchi, a teen we haven't gotten before! Hinotamatchi is a fun design, in it's simplicity. I'm guessing we've missed the boat on good-care characters, so it'll be neat to see who we end up with as an adult.

iwi1jm.jpg

Also yesterday, as I was catching up on Apple's care stuff, I pulled out the Angelgotchi. I'd struggled to keep its hearts full since they seem to run out more quickly than the V3's, and had already had to fill them all the way up. So when the twin angels were standing there looking miffed, I just figured the hearts were depleted, but then I couldn't do anything! It did the "dot flying upwards" animation, followed by the Thanks! screen! It was a surprising end for my first Angelgotchi run. I'm glad it seemed to go well, though! I was busy the rest of the day, though, so I didn't reset it just then.

24edz4g.jpg

And then this afternoon after getting back from church, I noticed that the Mini was acting strangely. It was the "falling down with sickness" type thing, so pressing buttons did nothing. It was... kinda weird how long it was like that. I didn't have the sound on, so I don't know if it was making any noise. But the falling down lasted at least like, 10 minutes or longer! And then after that, we get the death screen. The Mini had also lived a long time, a few days longer than the Angel, I think.

2lvcku8.jpg

Bye, you two! It was a good run!

So Apple is the only current living Tama for now. I think I'm going to reset the Angel and the Mini together tomorrow. For the Angel, I'll try for worse care (especially since I got the best-care path out of the gate, it seems) and for the Mini, I'll go for better care! Let's see what happens!

Hey everyone! Crazy enough, we might be getting snow tomorrow... we usually don't get it this often, I don't think, but I was in Florida the past few years for college, so maybe that's also biasing my memory.

Had to take the cat to the vet yesterday morning-- nothing was wrong, I just needed to get him updated on shots and stuff so that was all squared away while we apply for that apartment we liked. He's a pretty sweet tempered kitty, but I did get the Stare of Betrayal on the car ride over, poor guy. Thankfully it went pretty quickly and I had him back home and happy in not too much time.

Let me tell you about how the virtual pets have been doing, now!

After I got the cat back home, I reset my Mini and the Angel. I love how the Angel's "egg screen" is the original "death screen".

28hcy0m.jpg

Everything seemed to be going well yesterday! I think I kept better care of the Mini, and I regularly let the Angel's hearts run out before giving care, so I figured I was on the right track for what I wanted!

I figured... well, I was half right? Today was the day where the results of my efforts began to show and--

6szx1c.jpg

Hey there, Mametchi! Glad to see you! Encouraged by my Mini success, I was hoping to see Takoten as the Angel beeped to signal its teen evolution...

5k2a79.jpg

Uh, hey there, buddy, what happened? Apparently I hadn't been doing as "bad" a job as I thought? It was then that I remembered that usually a "care mistake" constitutes empty hearts -> care icon is lit and they beep -> THEN you wait until the care icon goes back to normal? That's right, right?

And, well, at least there's still opportunity for me to get a different character than Kuriten, so that's good! We'll see how it all unfolds from here.

The V3 is still in its teen stage, so Apple is still on fire and doing well.

See you next time!

Yo! Nice updates. You're right about the care miss - wait 15-20 minutes until icon goes back to normal. With the "falling-down sick" animation, that's actually their death animation. If you don't take care of them, they literally roll on the floor for 10 minutes and die. Oops. I know with the connections, if that animation is going on and you still want your tama to be alive, quickly stab the reset button and press "download" - they'll be sick, but you'll be able to press buttons again and have a second (or more) chance. Not sure if it applies to the Mini and such, though.

I love the "egg" animation for the angel, too. It's a cool reference to the originals, haha!! :D

Tamacass-- thanks! yeah, i figured it was the dying animation, since pressing A didn't seem to do anything to help aha. That makes sense with the Connections! I think that the Minis don't have the "download" feature, so it would probably just straight-up reset them. And yeah, the angel "egg" really sells the idea that it's a passed-on tama you're caring for ^-^

So we did get a lil bit of snow, but nothing stuck again. Our weather has always been a little unpredictable, but this month especially so!

The Angel and the V3 changed forms yesterday, so here's what we got!

Apple changed into a Mimitchi! A great surprise! In celebration, I pulled out the Throne item, haha.

iclira.jpg 24ozgjd.jpg

After I remembered what a care mistake was, I applied that to my care of the Angel-- which was harder than I thought, honestly. But! My efforts were rewarded by THIS GUY!

20zoc2p.jpg 23tqikm.jpg o8cmcw.jpg

Ginjirotenshi! He's adorable, look at him! Definitely my favorite Angel character so far. I love how he looks like he's always dancing.

14sgq2v.jpg

There he goes! I'm thrilled, honestly, this is a really fun character. His animations are cute and his design is really entertaining. :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Hey everyone! Just a quick update today. We got the apartment we were looking at earlier, so that's exciting, and it looks like there's a possibility of me getting a job offer soon...? I'm not certain, but it would be nice for sure.

Anyways, Apple met with the Matchmaker yesterday and had a son!

acbxjd.jpg

I'm happy that we've kept up the one family of Tamas through the generations. This next kid will be the 5th! We'll see how he starts to turn out when Apple floats away tomorrow morning.

That's pretty much it, as the Mini and Angel have been the same, just hanging out and being cute.

See you all next time!

Ha, I think it's cool how we were basically running the same tamas for a while. XD Glad your flocked one didn't get wrecked like mine. Also, be glad the sound on your mini was off when it passed, as they make the most horrendous 'slowing heartbeat' noise for like TEN MINUTES when they die. ><

Oh yeah, you're right! It sucks that your mini fell victim to misfortune. I'm glad I've been able to keep it relatively clean, tho it sucks in lint like no one's business. And yeah, seeing it die (and checking on it every few minutes to see that it was... still dying rip) was bad enough!! It felt like it took forever ono .

Hey all! It's crazy that it's almost the end of March, feels like it went by kind of fast.

Apple left her son, who I named Peach, because why abandon the theme, haha. Peach evolved into Kuchitamatchi...

9unsoy.jpg

... and then today, into Obotchi!

1z6qyk7.jpg

I wonder what kind of adult we'll get?

Meanwhile, the Angel Genjirotenshi said goodbye today, with the same ending as last time. It seems that this character doesn't have a secret character associated with it, cutting its lifespan short (about 8 days?). He was a fun character, so it was sad to see him go, but oh well!

2nk0wnl.jpg fm6hwk.jpg

And then, the Mini evolved into the secret character, Bill! He looks sorta odd (or, odder than normal) on the teeny Mini screen, but that was a neat discovery.

2egbk3m.jpg

I'll probably reset the Angel again tomorrow, and see what different character I can get!

      Hey guys!
      The long-anticipated moment has arrived..
I got my very first Tamagotchi!
It is the Magic White version of the Tamagotchi ON.
So in this log, I won't be posting pics, sadly.
      LET THE LOG COMMENCE!
      Friday, 27/11/2020.
I started up my new Tama, filled in everything, and got ready for my egg to hatch!
It hatched into.. a girl, which my dad named Daisy.
I took care of it, then it took a nap for, like 3 minutes. I woke up the screen to see that it had pooped on the spot.
Not long after, it had evolved into Chiroritchi, a good care character!
So I immediately got to getting out and earning gotchi points.
That's it for now, see ya next time! >w<

Hello, hello, I'm a long time fan of tamagotchi but a new member to tamatalk!
I decided to start a log for the lavender Wonder Garden tamagotchi I just got, which was one part a nostalgia purchase and another part mental health purchase. As silly as it sounds, tamagotchis helped me through depression  and anxiety as a kid. They're very much security blankets to me.
However this log won't really record my mental health, just the tamagotchi so don't worry about that.

Forgive my phone's crummy camera, but I got a baby girl! I've always been more partial to female tamas personally!
Also yes, that is my personal art! I find tamagotchi's simple designs lend well to being good warm up sketches so expect seeing some doodles my tamas now and then.

So this morning my Hashizoutchi died at 18 years old.

It was the longest that I've managed to keep a Tamagotchi ever as far as I can remember. It was on the Tamagotchi Game Boy game, on which I'm playing what I decided to label the "PoorBoy's Tamagotchi". The rules are that you can only take care of your Tamagotchi if the in-game clock matches your real-life clock. I've made a post about it here:
      https://www.tamatalk.com/IB/topic/199133-how-to-make-tamagotchi-for-game-boy-more-like-a-real-tamagotchi/

Upon its death I was labeled a genius by some stranger aliens who took Venus to their home planet.

Apparently they have the ability to revive dead Tamagotchi so Venus was revived and made an Honorary Member of... something lol. They dressed him up weidly and that's last time I saw him.

So as promised, here is my log (@Penguin-keeper) . I'll be covering mostly the 3 Tamagotchi games on Game Boy. I'll be trying to get every character in every game, which I'm sure will keep me occupied for a long time. I'll also mix in some Android virtual pet apps so that the log will hopefully remain fresh and interesting.
I'm starting with Tamagotchi 1 on GB, since for the time being it's my favourite of the 3 Game Boy games.

As you can see I've already picked 4 of the eggs, with Venus being the 4th. It's time to hatch that green one which I'll be naming Gaia (I'm uninspiringly naming them after planets, before Venus was Mercury). I wonder what happens when you hatch all the eggs and the last one dies, there has to be a cinematic or something, we'll see.

So here is Gaia. Since I've been raising Tamagotchis since a very long time and know all the rules, I'm adding myself a new rule to spice things up: for this run, I'm not allowed to check Gaia's stats apart from its age and weight. In real life, your pet or kid doesn't have a hungry and happy meter, you have to guess how it's feeling.
I've also decided thar Gaia will be a nerd, I'm only going to give it Math training. The only exercise it will be doing will be to maintain its weight. We'll see how it'll grow up and how long it'll live with this education.
I think that's all for today, I'll try to post everyday if my schedule allows.

At this point for me, it's less of a tradition to keep a log than it is to start one. Half of the posts on Tamatalk are just going to be all my unfinished logs! ;A; But not this time, my dear readers. For I have dug out a Tamagotchi version that is very special to me, and with... a lot of hesitation, actually, have started it up for the first time in what feels like forever!
As the title may give away, I am running (and logging!) my pink iD L! Back when I first joined Tamatalk, these were very popular, and also everywhere unlike the listings you see today. I got both my iD Ls - the aforementioned pink version and my now-rare Princess Spacey ver - back in 2013 for less than $100 each, and I'm glad I did because nowadays, oh boy do you have to sell your own soul to get your hands on one mint in box.
Of course, this comes with its own issues - being that I've had these for seven years now, they've accumulated a ton of scratches, which is where most of my hesitation comes from. For those who aren't in the know, colour Tamagotchis - particularly their screens - are highly prone to scratches if you're not careful, and they can show up real easily on the screen as these annoying rainbow-like textures. My 4U and m!xs have managed to stay safe, luckily, but my iD Ls and my precious little P's have not had the same luck nor fortune. And don't even get me started on their front faceplates - I'd be able to actually afford a mint iD L with the amount of scratches they have.
However, it is all cosmetic in the end. And it's not like I'm ever getting a new iD L unless I risk it for a used version, so I may as well take you all down with me. I've got a Pac-Man Anniversary Mini/Nano in the mail right now as we speak, so with a little patience I'll hopefully be able to log it soon!  Let's begin!
      ~*~*~*~*~*~
      iD L
I put some new batteries in a few days ago, and was welcomed by a little Kingyobotchi! For those not in the know, they are the best-care female toddler character on the iD L. I also discovered that my iD L was on its 3rd generation last time I played it - I had previously raised a Kikitchi and an Agetchi, respectively, both of which are bad-care adult characters.
Determined to take good care of my next Tamagotchi, I proceeded to get the next highest-care teenager, Painaputchi - and didn't look at a growth chart, which is extremely rare for me! I ended up raising an adorable little Chamametchi:

I forgot how photogenic the iD L was. You can't even see any of the scratches on it's screen!
(While writing this, I realized I hadn't given Chamametchi a name yet! I searched up the nearest random name generator, and blessed her with the title of London.)
While Chamametchi isn't the... highest care character out there, she's still very cute (and not a teen, strangely). I decided to go for her Tamatomo Stamps - for those who don't have an iD L, every adult 'gotchi has three special likes that cause them to do a cute little animation + give you what's dubbed a Tamatomo Stamp. You earn the last Tamatomo stamp by having your adult-stage Tamagotchi for 72 hours (or, at least 5 years old, if I recall correctly). You can earn any Tamatomo Stamp in any order, and they're a fun little incentive to spend more time with your tama! Plus, it also gets them stamped in the memory book (which is how I discovered the previous tamas I raised), as well as a bonus cutscene when they get married.
Anyway, I decided to go for London's Tamatomo Stamps straight away! We decided to head to the park, as the market was currently being held:

It's Kuchipatchi's mum! What she's doing here, I have no idea.
Items at the market are usually marked down by 30%, so I wanted to get a good deal. I accidentally ended up leaving by way of the C button with London in tow.

It was raining outside when I took this photo! Who knew Tamagotchi Planet had the same weather cycles... and timezone... wait a second.
We decided to visit again later - for now, it was off to the TamaDepa to get something I thought London would like. The hunt for her Tamatomo stamps was on! I rarely search for these without consulting a guide, so there was an exciting factor to our adventure.
I quickly swept into the accessories aisle, and bought London a pair of cat ears! It was time for the moment of truth...

...I mean, she's still happy at least?
Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. If your Tamagotchi's latest item/accessory/food is Tamatomo-worthy, they'd usually start jumping high in the air with hearts everywhere! But London was quite mellow. She still defied gravity in her celebration, though.
I didn't want to stop there, however - maybe an outfit was what London was looking for! We went back to the market again, as outfits can be super expensive:

It's Makiko's mum! ...I just remembered that Makiko's name doesn't end in 'tchi'.
I was running low on money, so we sold off the Tamamori Tree item I got out of the toy seed I planted in London's backyard yesterday. Don't ask.
Anyway, we had enough money to buy London a lovely red kimono:

I forgot how fun it was to dress up your tamas on the iD L...
And thus the moment of truth began once again!

      Guess what happened next.
...And yet it also was not meant to be! Not only had I spent a ton of gotchi points on two outfits that weren't Tamatomo-worthy, now London looked like a weird anime character. She didn't seem to mind though.

One last photo before the post gets too big...
I decided to stop our Tamatomo hunting there for now. I took London to the different locations in the food menu, but none of the meals and snacks there seemed to activate a Tamatomo Stamp... not even the sweetest treats around! ...That, and it ended with me accidentally discovering Chamametchi's least favorite food. By then my pockets were totally empty. I'm sure I'm missing something here... maybe I should be more open to London's tastes and stop assuming that all she likes is pink stuff just by the colour of her ears? The irony is real.
Next post: more stamp hunting! Meeting a Tama-pet at the park enough times to create a bond with them and take them home... I missed those guys on the 4U and m!x, they were useless but I loved them anyway!

      Hey guys!
I've been thinking of getting a tama for a long time now, and one time I just felt like getting a knockoff. Just to see how vpets are like.
      But, speculations..
I mean, why not just get a real one? They're much better than the knockoffs anyway!
Can you guys please help me?
      Thanks~
