If that's the case, it could be the lcd cracked. The only way to be sure is to take it apart, but I'm reasonably sure dropping that tama ruined your screen. You might be able to buy a broken tama on ebay that you can swap the parts out for!

I would have to argue that starting off with the simplest tamas first is probably the best for a beginner. Go with a vintage P1 or P2 or a V1. As you get more into tamas, you might find the older ones with their lack of features... boring. Of course, if you want to try one out before jumping...
