Last year, in October, Hasbro's CEO and Chairman Brian Goldner (who also served as Bandai America's COO and Executive Vice President during Tamagotchi's heyday) passed away after a long battle with prostate cancer. Even though Hasbro is a competitor, at some point we must've wondered where they would go from there in regards to leadership. Well, I just found out the answer.

Richard Stoddart served as Interim CEO ever since Goldner took a medical leave of absence two days before his death, and Tracy Leinbach took over as Chairwoman. Today, I found out that Hasbro appointed Goldner's successor last week; Chris Cocks, president of the Hasbro-owned Wizards of the Coast, will be promoted to CEO of the parent company, while Stoddart will become Chairman, both effective February 25th, 2022. Leinbach's future role is currently unknown.

Let's try to refrain from cracking jokes about the last name of the new CEO and instead be appreciative of the fact that even though their wingman fell in battle, Hasbro found a new one that they felt is worthy of holding the torch and continuing to guide the company in the direction that Goldner led, and maybe even inspire other toymakers like Mattel or Bandai to get on their level.
