Can't Enter Shop Codes Properly?

So, I recently wanted to try entering in shop codes.

I will go to the shop page, and press 'A' over and over until he gets annoyed. Then, I will try to put in the code. When I'm on the next-to last or last letter, this noise will happen and I can't finish it.

Is there a reason why this won't work? I'm using it on a V3.

If the noise is like when you try to feed it when its sleeping, that means you typed the code wrong. Better luck next time.

That use to happen to me to!!.
