I've been reading that people have suffered their Tamagotchi ON or Meets suffering currupted data and other problems due to items or characters made in the MyMeets fan app.

I have no intention of using the app with my Tamagotchi ON or the Meets app with my ON. But I'm worried about those who have used it and then go on to use the ON's app when its finally released and interact with other users through the marriage feature.

Even though Bandai Japan has warned people to not use the MyMeets app with the Meets app or their account would be banned and their warranty on the device voided I'm sure there are people out there that will ignore this and do it anyway.

It makes me worried about when the ON's app is released. Like if I connect and end up marrying my Tama to a Tama whose user used the MyMeets app for its genetics will it brick or corrupt my ON?

After 3 months of waiting for this devices release and the app, having that happen would really stink. I hate the idea of having to restrict my use of the app, especially the one feature I liked about it the most (marrying my Tama to other users Tama's) because of this.

Is there any info regarding if data corruption can happen between a Tama that had the MyMeets used with it and a Tama that hasn't and if the non MyMeets Tama got corrupted or glitchy? I've heard of people who had used the MyMeets app having their Tama corrupted but not if it spread through connecting it in anyway with other Tama's.

It is actually one of my biggest concerns!

I remember a month ago, my tama married a really beautiful character and I though this could never happen espically with how the mixing mechanics work, then I found out about the MyMeets App!

Still not sure if the other Tama is from MyMeets or not, but sometimes it’s obvious that some characters look SO good that you only left to think that they were made in MyMeets App!

Luckily I never experienced any issues with my devices and my account wasn’t banned!

Bandai officially said that they will ban those who use the MyMeets App, but they didn’t mention those who might interact and possibly marry their tamas with the ones who used MyMeets App.

Makes me hope they put some scanner or something into the ON's app to find out right away if the unit connecting had the MyMeets app used on it and stop them from connecting to the ON's offical app before any damage can happen to those following the rules.

I'm all for people having fun, and this app would be cool if it didn't risk causing possible problems for people NOT using it.

Its one of those situations where I really wish the MyMeets app was never made. Yes there are people who will understand and use the MyMeets app but stay off the official app knowing it can cause other users problems. But then there are those who don't care or are vindictive enough to do it on purpose to break or ruin other peoples Tama's.

Sorry about being new to this, but why ban? Did something happen to the platform? I use the app, so will I and many other casual fans? :(

They’re banning the accounts because it’s not officially from bandai, and everyone now can access to exclusive station genes and stuff that is only in Japan!

I understand it’s frustrating that it came to the point where they started banning people, but they’re doing the right thing here, if people carry on using the corrupted data I think sooner or later the official app and the actual devices will have issues and obviously bandai doesn’t want that!

not to metion that people wont buy new editions instead they will access and get the special genes with any version they have from MyMeets App, and that will be affecting the sales of the toy

...Yikes.

I use the MyMeets app; in fact, my current character is from there. I just thought it was so awesome and I'd never heard of Bandai's banning people before.

I was so looking forward to marrying my character with someone from the ON app. Now I can't?

What about the next generation? Will Bandai ban me if I put the MyMeets character's child in the app? Does it still show that it's from MyMeets?

I should've known MyMeets was too good to come without any consequences. Sigh.

i think you'll be okay as long as you wait until the next generation to connect to the app, i see characters around all the time that pretty clearly have mymeets ancestry, and they seem to be okay

i've married some of the characters that have mymeets genetics and mine have been okay, the only real issue i've seen around is some people seem to get tamagotchi without eyes in the adult stage, but those are pretty easy to avoid because it's obvious there's eyeless tamagotchi in their family tree

i can't use it myself because it doesn't run on linux (well, it does with WINE, but WINE doesn't have bluetooth support so i can't connect with it), but i'm a little thankful for mymeets making station-exclusive genetics and what have you easier to come by, i feel like there's not a chance i would have gotten dorotchi genetics so easily otherwise, haha

Wow, I had no idea that MyMeets what even a thing. Of course given that I got my Tamagotchi On two days ago, as of writing this, so it would make sense that I haven’t found it. I did notice while going through the park the the Tamagotchi On App, that some characters were distinctly unique from others. I just thought maybe they were from Sanrio or perhaps a different type of Tamagotchi meets. From y’alls perspective, should I avoid marrying in the park then with other players Tamas? It’s  my very first generation, her name is Hanbunkotchi, so once she’s an adult and marries, the baby will be my second generation, and of course my very first mix, so I don’t want wanna mess anything up.

you should be okay, i've married mine to someone's from the park almost every generation and it's been fine, but if you're really worried about it, you could try just marrying the special park guest in the tama party, or check the family tree of whoever you're going to propose to beforehand to make sure there's no weird glitchy tamagotchi in there

I highly doubt they can ban anyone who has married a corrupted character- by that point half the population would be banned, it only takes one tama to mess it all up since if they do the egg trick then everyone they shared their genes with would be banned. Bandai knows better than to do such a rash tacit, more than likely they will target select models i.e the ONS and Ssome since they cannot have access to these stations.

There is only so much information they can see. So I wouldn't worry too much. More than likely if you have meets genes nothing will happen.

On the news of glitching I don't use my meets on my tamas currently but I know for a fact uploading backgrounds wrong can make your tama disappear temporarily. When you do mix genes occasionally it will cause a reset since the data is not from an actual device, I would need to test with a tama myself but I assume its actually anti-piracy or its own software protection. I am not sure how intelligent the software is however it seems to be forced only when marrying.

Of course I should say its rare and only from heavy use. If you use it to marry every single time, or heavily change the backgrounds thats typically what causes it to corrupt. As long as it is in moderation the app is safe to use!

Hopefully I had some answers for you.
