What does it mean when your tama turns into an adult and keeps falling on its face?

It means that one of your tamagotchi's fortune cooking has one star in it, only adult tamagotchi will fall when it has a fortune cookie that has one star.

Yes, it's just an animation, just like your tama taking a bath or brushing its teeth. Nothing special about it.

It's just a normal animation. 
If your strength fortune cookie has only one star, your Tama will fall on its face. If it has two stars, nothing special will happen. Three stars, and it'll jump for joy every now and then.
