What is a Golden Tamagotchi? Is it a character or something? I've heard you have to get items and if so can you get a Golden Tama on the v4.5? h34r:

I think the Golden Tamagotchi is a limited edition v3 that you could get from a contest on Tamagotchi.com a couple of years ago.

The Golden Tamagotchi is also a souvenir on the v3 if I remember correctly.

The Golden Tamagotchi's are just a v3 w/ a gold shell. I guess if you really like rare tamagotchis, you would want it. But it's really no different. The golden tamagotchi is also like everyone said a souviner on the v3, you get it by doing a scavenger hunt.
