They're easy to understand, and because modern remakes exist (and are still in production) they're one of the most affordable options out there.
Also, If you are looking for something easy, I would recommend any of the tamagotchi nano series pets. Nanos do not take much skill to take care of, just feeding, playing, and scaring away predators, which make your tama sick. Good luck!
Ooh, good suggestion! The Pac-Man and Hello Kitty ones are particularly fun examples of this type of Tamagotchi (Nanos usually cross over with outside pop-culture licenses).

I'd say if u want something current and easy to get, a Pix should do nicely! They're available on amazon and decently priced, tho they use QR codes to do play dates and such, so I'm not sure if that's not quite what ur looking for?
