I've noticed a few posts by different members recently complaining that their TamaTalk user name has been "hacked".
TamaTalk is a pretty secure site and to be honest, there are really only a couple of ways another person can "hack" your account.
In most cases the "hacker" is usually someone who is able to use the same computer as you - such as a sibling or friend at home or school / work who may also visit TamaTalk or who knows you visit TamaTalk.
The easiest way for someone to "hack" your account is when you don't sign out of TamaTalk properly.
Signing out of TamaTalk is like closing the door behind you when you leave your house. Your password is like the key to get back into the house.
Don't get "hacked" :
Sign Out When you've finished visiting the site.
1. Click on your profile pic (top right hand side of the computer screen) and click on the "
Sign Out
" link.
OR
2. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the TamaTalk home page and click on the "
Delete Cookies
" link.
DON'T just close the browser window!
You may still be logged in and the next person who uses your computer can bring up the previous site visited. If you're still logged in they can post whatever they want on your user name.
You are responsible for your account / user name - and you are also responsible for whatever is posted on this site under that user name - whether or not it was you, your sibling, your ex-best friend or your dog
Sign Out and use your password to make sure it is only you who gets to use your account.
Keep your password safe.
Memorise it. Don't write it down and never (never, never) share it with anyone else - no matter how much you think you can trust them - not your sibling, not your best friend or your dog
Much of this advice is already posted in our Users Guide to TamaTalk: How to Keep Your Account Safe: https://www.tamatalk....r-account-safe/
(For those who think it is just about not posting personal info, you might want to refresh your memory by reading that topic)
