hatugatchi question

when you have a hatugatchi, you can get a secret character; kuromametchi.

so i have a hatugatchi right now, and i have fed it a sesame pudding, but it didnt evolve. does this mean that i need to have hatugatchi as the main character out of the three? as right now it is one of the characters on the other side.

it is ok now. i used it again and it has worked.

first time must of been a slight glitch! ^_^
